| Description: |
This delightful day is the perfect antidote to “nature deficit disorder”. Unplug yourself and come with or without your little ones and join us for a full day of fun as we open ourselves to the wonders and beauty of nature and learn new craft skills that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Our day begins at 10:00am as we welcome you with delicious fresh sun teas and snacks that we gather together in the garden. Next we will learn how to use some common plants to make simple dyes and enjoy the delight of watching the colours combine as we transform wool, feathers, and even shoelaces into your own take home masterpieces! Everyone will craft a gorgeous felted wool treasure pouch with hand dyed local wool. After a delicious lunch made from fresh ingredients from our organic gardens we will head out into the nearby woods to gather edible treats for our afternoon snack and more materials for crafts that will include an easy and fun plaited and woven mat using available plant material. Before we send you home laden with treasures you have the option of making a simple bird feeder with pinecones and grains harvested from the garden or try your hand at beeswax candles either hand dipped or made in sand molds. This workshop is suitable for children of all ages and will provide parents and grandparents with many ideas for future unplugged days of fun with their little ones.
For those coming from away who want to enjoy the entire weekend on our working organic farm, we have various types of accommodation available including bedrooms and suites in our elegant strawbale farmhouse, our lovely and airy dormitory space, a delightfully rustic yet fully equipped and self-contained strawbale cabin with kitchen and bathroom suitable for a family and lots of tenting possibilities. Farm fresh meals are also available upon request. Please enquire by email: |
